Graduate GIS Analyst

Marico Marine is growing! This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate GIS Analyst to join our team of high achieving maritime specialists and to play a key role in supporting project work across our business.

Following a successful induction period, the expectation is that this post will be office-based, with up to two days a week working from home. Flexibility will be required here to support operational demands. The role is full time (37.5 hours per week) with a starting salary of £21,000 to £25,000 per annum, commensurate with skills and experience.


The role involves working on a wide range of maritime projects across all our key business streams, including Ports and Harbours, Shipping, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Utilities and GIS/data, initially as a project researcher/consultant, but, in time, project management. The Graduate GIS Analyst will primarily support the delivery of projects by undertaking the following tasks:

  • Provide GIS & data analysis, including technical IT support, as required;
  • Contribute to and assist with drafting reports;
  • Utilise other specialist software to assist in successful project completion;
  • Maintain and develop expertise in the fields of GIS and numerical analysis; and
  • Assist in the development of models and routines to aid maritime data analysis, and presentation.

Any necessary technical training will be provided through a mix of on-the-job-training and formal training courses, as relevant.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Educated to degree-level in a relevant subject.


Computer literacy in MS Office 365, including:

  • MS Word;
  • MS Outlook;
  • MS Excel; and
  • MS Power Point.

Excellent GIS skills (ESRI ArcGIS Pro):

  • Experience using tools to automate geo-processing workflows using python/model builder.


  • Report writing;
  • Problem solving and analytical skills; and
  • Excellent written and oral communications.


  • Further degree (Masters or Doctorate) in marine related discipline;
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, with demonstrable CPD;
  • Contemporary software development skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Work experience in a marine or harbour environment; and
  • Other marine experience (professional or leisure).


  • Right to work in the UK; and
  • Full Driving Licence.
